Port Blair, March 27: In exercise of power conferred under M.V. Act 1988 (Act No.59 of 1988) read with Administrations Notification dated 10th March, 2008, the District Magistrate, South Andaman District has notified for the information of all concerned that resurfacing of road from Bhatubasti Junction to Water Treatment Plant will be carried out with effect from 31.03.2024 to 15.04.2024 (Half Portion).

Rangat, March 27: The General Public/ SSI Units/ Govt. Department & Contractors have been informed that owing to physical verification of sawn timber in Govt. Saw Mill, Betapur from 1st April, 2024 onwards, the receipt of application and sale of sawn timber and other mill produce to the general public and others will be temporarily suspended w.e.f 1st April, 2024 onwards till the process of stock verification is completed.

Port Blair, March 26: As part of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, the process for filing of nominations by the contesting candidates is continuing. The Office of the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency (District Office, South Andaman) is receiving the nomination papers from the contesting candidates. Four more candidates filed their nominations on March 26, 2024.

Port Blair, March 26: The much awaited awareness series on Dugong and Nature Conservation commenced today at Bageecha, Port Blair. The series is being organised by the Wildlife Institute of India in association with Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi and 4 Seasons.

The series commenced with an awareness session packed with fun and knowledge for the residents of Love Children’s Home, Manglutan. During the awareness session, videos on Dugong, Games and Interactive Session were organised by Ms. Swapnali Gole, Researcher, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. The children learnt about their State Animal and the need to protect them. They also vowed to spread the word across on the need to protect the endangered species Dugong.
